Activation of persulfate by TiO<sub>2</sub> -Fe<sub>3</sub> O<sub>4</sub> nanocomposite for reactive red 198 degradation along with modeling and optimization approach

Background: Recently, sulfate radical-based photocatalytic processes have attracted significant interests because of unique advantages in pollutants purification. In this study, TiO2 -Fe3 O4 nanocomposites the presence persulfate and under ultraviolet light-emitting diode (UV-LED) irradiation were applied for reactive red 198 removal with a focus on main operating parameters such as pH, molar concentration, time, catalyst dosages different initial concentrations. Methods: The nanoparticles synthesized by co-precipitation technique. X-ray diffraction (XRD), field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM) coupled energy dispersive (EDX) Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) analysis used to evaluate - Fe3 nanocomposites. response surface methodology (RSM) was employed modeling optimization. kinetics mechanisms decolorization hydroxyl radicals investigated. mineralization dye evaluated using total organic carbon (TOC) analysis. Results: Modeling optimization through RSM showed that maximum is accursed an concentration 10-50 mg/L reached UV-LED 62- 85 min, concentration=0.8-1 mM, 0.19-0.3 g/L pH=3. process agreement pseudo-first order. during optimum conditions determined at about 61.1% 49.6%, meanwhile, efficiency same approximately 98.1% 87.6%, respectively. Conclusion: use can be efficient promising method from textile wastewater.
